Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the injury to new signing Dominik Szoboszlai.

The 22-year-old sat out of Liverpool’s 4-4 draw with Greuther Furth on Monday as the Reds ended their pre-season tour of Germany.

Goals from Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez (x2), and Mohamed Salah earned Klopp’s team a share of the spoils in a topsy-turvy contest.

News broke at the weekend that Szoboszlai had picked up an ankle knock in training and had been for a scan.

Whilst reports suggested the issue was only minor, Reds fans would have been pleased to hear Klopp confirm (via LFCTV) that he could have played.

“He rolled his ankle slightly in training, really nothing. Everybody is super-positive about it, himself first.

“If we would have today a Premier League game or whatever, he could play. So, we don’t take a risk and we will see what we will do with the Leicester game after travel [and] stuff like this. But for the Bayern game he will be ready, definitely.”

The Transfer Room’s Verdict on the Injury to Dominik Szoboszlai

With the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho seemingly imminent, Klopp needs all of his midfielders available so the news regarding Szoboszlai will come as a welcome boost to supporters.

Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara should also be closing in on returns and they will hopefully be joined by a new recruit or two over the coming weeks.
