Dominik Szoboszlai expressed his elation after scoring his first goal for Liverpool in their commanding 3-0 victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Reds from RB Leipzig during the summer transfer window, opened his account with a stunning strike in just the third minute of the game. The match also saw a Matty Cash own goal and a precise finish from Mohamed Salah, securing all three points for Jurgen Klopp’s formidable side.

Szoboszlai has been a prominent presence in Liverpool’s lineup, featuring in all four of their Premier League matches this season. His contributions have been instrumental in helping the Merseysiders amass an impressive 10 points from a possible 12, positioning them strongly in the early stages of the campaign.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: “Really happy to hold the three points at home. Well played, good reactions, I think everybody showed himself again and as a team we did very good.

“I’m really happy to score my first goal at Anfield. I think I couldn’t even wish [for] better.

“To be honest, I said it before, we practised sometimes in the training and I think two weeks ago I had two situations after each other [and] I shoot the ball 50 metres over the goal.

“Today I was concentrating even more to hit the ball good and to hit the goal. It worked.”

On the Anfield crowd, he added: “We are doing everything for them and also for us.

“But all the time we want the full stadium and if they come then we want to show them it’s the reason why they come.”

The Hungary skipper concluded: “We have a really good squad, to be honest. Joel [Matip] started today really good, played until the end. Joey as well fought all the balls.

“We need these kind of players. We need everybody healthy because if something happens then you need to be ready.

“We should be calm, we should work hard – as we did until now – and everything is going to come.”
