Liverpool are not in advanced discussions regarding a contract extension with Luis Diaz, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Colombian forward is set to enter the final two years of his current deal this summer, having not yet signed an extension since his move from Porto in January 2022.

Several key players at Liverpool have contracts set to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season, including Alisson, Conor Bradley, Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, Harvey Elliott, Joe Gomez, Kostas Tsimikas, and Wataru Endo.

However, Diaz’s situation is reportedly attracting interest from multiple clubs.

Barcelona have been frequently linked with a move for the winger in recent months, while Saudi Pro League clubs are also said to be monitoring his situation.

In an update on his Daily Briefing, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Díaz was approached by clubs during the winter transfer window.

Despite the interest, the player is believed to have wanted to remain at Liverpool, with the club also not keen on making changes to the squad during January.

Romano explains that this was the main reason no move materialised, although he notes that the interest from various clubs, including several European sides, is still ongoing.

“My information is that at the moment there is nothing advanced or concrete in terms of new contract talks at Liverpool, so let’s see what happens in the final months of the season, if Liverpool decide to offer a new deal to Luis Diaz or if they decide to pathways in the summer transfer window,” Romano said.

“In general, there is a feeling that as well as Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz could be leaving Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

“It’s a strong possibility; again, it’s not guaranteed yet, but it’s one to watch for sure.”

Barcelona are reported to have multiple figures within the club who are admirers of Diaz, and he is being compared to Darwin Nunez as a player who could potentially leave Liverpool this summer.
