Liverpool and Steven Garrard’s Al-Ettifaq have reached an ‘agreement in principle’ over the transfer fee of Jordan Henderson according to Fabrizio Romano.
News broke a week ago that there was interest in the Reds skipper from the Saudi club with suggestions they had offered him £700k per week.
The deal seemed to stall however with Al-Ettifaq trying to secure the 33-year-old on a free transfer and the Anfield hierarchy demanding a transfer fee.
Henderson did travel with the Liverpool squad to their pre-season training camp in Germany however but was left out for the match against Karlsruher SC.
It now seems clear as to why he was not included with Romano reporting that the two clubs have ‘reached an agreement in principle’ over the transfer fee.
The transfer specialist suggests that with Henderson having already agreed a three-year deal, it is a matter of time before the move is completed.

A week ago, no one would have envisaged that Liverpool would sell their skipper but it shows nothing in football can be taken for granted.
With Fabinho also looking set to make a shock move to Saudi club Al-Ittihad, the focus will soon switch to possible incomings with an urgent need for reinforcements as the new season approaches.
Assuming the moves are confirmed, it will leave a big hole in Klopp’s squad, not only in terms of numbers but also leadership and experience.
