Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Thiago Alcantara will stay the club.
The German confirmed it in his press conference previewing the Chelsea game as he was asked about several different things.
There has been plenty of rumours surrounding the future of Thiago with interest from Saudi Arabia and reported interest from his old club Barcelona as well as other Spanish clubs Sevilla and Real Betis.
He has been recovering from a long-term injury so far this pre-season but he is now back in full training for Liverpool.
On the midfielder Klopp said: “He’s now training, he came in and asked about his role and we spoke.
“Super experienced player, he stepped up in that department.
“He has only been in team training for a week but very vocal, he is going to be very helpful for us.”
Liverpool have had several midfield departures with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson leaving after Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner.
Therefore leaving Thiago as by far the most experienced midfielder left at the club so he will have a big role in this upcoming campaign which is likely to be his last at the Reds.
At the moment Liverpool are locked in one of the most intense transfer sagas in recent time with Brighton and Chelsea for Moises Caicedo.
