Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners against Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday in the Premier League thanks to goals from Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, and Diogo Jota.

Jurgen Klopp named an unchanged lineup from the team that drew 1-1 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend but was able to name new signing Wataru Endo on the bench.

Bournemouth found themselves in front in just the third minute after poor play by Trent Alexander-Arnold and Vigil van Dijk was pounced on by Antoine Semenyo who finished well to make it 1-0.

Liverpool eventually started to find their rhythm and were level in the 27th minute when Diogo Jota’s incisive run into the box saw the ball make its way to Luis Diaz who brilliantly hooked the ball into the net when he had his back to goal.

It was 2-1 just nine minutes later when Dominik Szoboszlai was felled in the box and Mohamed Salah converted the rebound from his own penalty that had been well saved by Neto.

After the break, Liverpool continued to threaten to add to their lead with much of their positive play coming through Szoboszlai down their right side.

They were dealt a blow however when Alexis Mac Allister was harshly sent off in the 58th minute after he felled Ryan Christie after Bournemouth broke out of their box.

Four minutes later however it was 3-1 when Diogo Jota was on hand to slam home Neto’s parry from a Szoboszlai shot from the edge of the box.

Both sides could have added further goals and Liverpool had Alisson Becker to thank for a fine save late on.

Man Of The Match

It wasn’t vintage Liverpool but they did enough to get the three points. Ibrahima Konate and Van Dijk were solid at the back and Diaz was electric going forward.

On an afternoon that was not an easy one for the Reds, however, Szoboszlai was outstanding, showing real quality and intensity at the same time.

If this performance is a sign of things to come, Reds fans should be excited and he is the clear winner of our vote as the man of the match.
