With transfer deadline day fast approaching Liverpool are still looking for another midfielder as they have reportedly entered talks with Crystal Palace about bringing Cheick Doucoure to the club after rumours about the midfielder being their top target.

The Reds have been looking for a defensive midfielder throughout the transfer window even when they still had Fabinho and Jordan Henderson at the club.

After they sold those two their search stepped up as they made then Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia their priority target but they had three bids rejected for him so moved onto Moises Caicedo.

In the end both Lavia and Caicedo joined Chelsea hence why Liverpool have had to move onto alternate targets which include Doucoure and now their appears to be a breakthrough in talks.

What is the latest Doucoure update?

The Mal international has impressed in the Premier League as he won the Crystal Palace player of the season award in his first campaign in England.

Now the 22-year-old is subject of interest from Liverpool who have supposedly sent a contract offer to Doucoure in hopes of striking a deal.

Liverpool want to sign a defensive midfielder before the Friday deadline and Doucoure is high on their list but he is not the only on their list so there could be movement elsewhere if they cannot agree a fee with Crystal Palace.

If Doucoure were to sign he would likely slot right into the side allowing Wataru Endo to be the back-up for the rest of the campaign.
