Liverpool have appealed the red card handed out to Alexis Mac Allister in the 3-1 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.
The Argentine was harshly sent off in the 58th minute after he felled Ryan Christie as Bournemouth broke out of their box.
He looked on in dismay as referee Thomas Bramall brandished the red card and it was not overturned by VAR.
As things stand, the 24-year-old will miss Liverpool’s visit to Newcastle on Sunday, as well as the matches against Aston Villa at Anfield and the away game at Wolves.
The Anfield hierarchy have now chosen to appeal the decision however in the hope that the suspension will be lifted making Mac Allister available for the crucial match at St James’ Park.
