Liverpool duo Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones are set to report for pre-season training on Thursday following their participation at the U21 European Championship.
Elliott and Jones will join their teammates in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany after Jurgen Klopp afforded them extended time off to re-energise ahead of the new season which commences in August.
The pair played a key role in helping the young Three Lions win this year’s U21 European Championship by beating Spain 1-0 in the final. Jones was adjudged Player of the Match – just as he was after his team’s victory over Israel in the quarter-final.
Elliott made five appearances during the competition and scored a sublime solo goal in England’s group-stage win over Germany, while Jones featured in all but one game for England who did not concede a goal throughout the tournament.
“Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones will join Liverpool’s pre-season training camp in Germany on Thursday”, a club statement read.
“The duo were afforded extended time off after helping England to victory in the U21 European Championship earlier this month.”
Elliott featured in 46 games and made seven goal contributions for the Reds after a tough start to the 2022/23 season, while Jones shined for Klopp’s side towards the latter stages of the campaign, scoring three goals and providing one assist in 24 games.
They both helped Liverpool finish 5th in the Premier League and secured qualification for next season’s UEFA Europa League.
