Liverpool will accelerate their recruitment for a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold amid his departure from the club to Real Madrid in the Summer as a free agent.

According to the Romanian outlet Pro Sport, the Merseyside club has entered the race for Romanian national Andrei Rațiu. The 26-year-old right-back plays for Rayo Vallecano in La Liga and has two goals and three assists in twenty-seven appearances.

Rayo have informed the Reds that there is a £20million release clause for the defender, and only with payment of the full clause will the Spanish side allow the player to depart.

Liverpool will need to replace the ball progression Trent supplied for years, and when the two are compared, it’s very clear why his type of profile would be targeted.

This seems like the type of signing that a data-led model would pursue. Undervalued assets with high potential to return and perform big in the Premier League.

The targeting of ball progressing full-backs on the right-hand side has been increased through reporting from various outlets of late. There seems to be a desire to replace the ball progression from that side to allow the likes of Mohamed Salah to continue on their form beyond this season – providing he extends his contract with the club.
