Liverpool are considering a move for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes in the summer transfer window, according to Anfield Watch.
The Reds have brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his engine room following the exits of Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
The Merseysiders tried to hijack Chelsea’s move for Moises Caicedo but the 21-year-old turned down a transfer to Anfield in bid to complete his dream move to Stamford Bridge for a £100m fee that could rise to a British club record of £115m.
Romeo Lavia was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool with Klopp’s side seeing multiple bids rejected by Southampton for the 19-year-old.
Liverpool finally agreed a £60m deal with the Saints for Lavia but just like Caicedo, the Beglium U-21 international also prefers a move to London.
They have now moved on to other alternatives and Nunes has emerged as a potential transfer target. He was linked with a move to Liverpool before joining Wolves from Sporting Lisbon last summer.
Anfield Watch claims that the player’s representatives are looking to leave the club following the departure of Julen Lopetegui.
The Portugal international racked up 41 appearances and made four goal contributions as Wolves survived relegation from the Premier League last season.
Nunes was in action for Wolves in their 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in their opening league game of the season on Monday night.
