Reports suggest that Liverpool will need to pay a world-record compensation fee to secure Ruben Amorim as their new manager.

The search for Jurgen Klopp’s successor at Liverpool continues following the German’s announcement of his departure at the end of January.

Klopp’s decision to step down after nine successful years has left Liverpool in search of a suitable replacement, amid a period of intense competition in the Premier League and across Europe.

Former midfielder Xabi Alonso has emerged as an early favourite for the role, thanks to his impressive work with Bayer Leverkusen.

Alonso has overseen a remarkable turnaround at Leverkusen, taking over from Gerardo Seoane when the club was facing a relegation battle 18 months ago.

Ruben Amorim is another name being considered for the soon-to-be vacant Liverpool managerial position.

Amorim is seen as a potential alternative, especially with the Bayern Munich job becoming available in the summer.

According to the Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele, “Sporting would demand a world-record fee in compensation and this will be around £25million if any club wanted to poach Amorim.”

The prospective move for Ruben Amorim to Liverpool would surpass the previous record set by Julian Nagelsmann, who was also considered an option for the Reds.

Nagelsmann was enticed to Bavaria from RB Leipzig for a fee of £21.7 million.

Amorim still has two years left on his current contract in Lisbon. The 39-year-old has garnered significant recognition across Europe for his achievements with Sporting CP.

Amorim has guided Sporting to one Portuguese league title and two League Cup honours, in addition to one with SC Braga.
