Liverpool have received a positive development as Egypt have accepted the club’s request to exempt Mohamed Salah from international duties this month.

Salah was initially included in Egypt’s squad for this month’s international friendly despite a request from Liverpool to rest the forward.

The Reds made a unique appeal to the Egyptian Football Association urging them to consider excluding Salah from the upcoming March internationals.

The plea comes amid concerns about the player aggravating his current hamstring injury further. However, the Egyptian FA has granted Liverpool’s request.

Since the start of the year, Salah had only played 35 minutes for the Premier League leaders. His limited playing time can be attributed to his participation in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations duty with Ivory Coast.

Unfortunately, during a 2-2 draw with Ghana in mid-January, Salah experienced a muscle issue, further complicating his fitness.

Liverpool took proactive measures to oversee the rehabilitation of their leading goal scorer, who has netted 19 goals this season.

The club facilitated his recovery at the AXA Training Centre, demonstrating a commitment to ensuring Salah’s well-being and swift return to peak fitness.

Following the Pharaohs’ inability to replicate their 2022 final appearance, the 31-year-old made his return for Liverpool in a noteworthy 4-1 victory against Brentford a fortnight ago.

Despite contributing with a goal, the joy was short-lived as he experienced a recurrence of his muscle issue during what turned out to be a physically demanding match.

Salah returned from injury to feature for Liverpool during their 5-1 first-leg lead over Sparta Prague in the Europa League last 16 on Thursday night.

The 31-year-old has scored 19 goals for Liverpool across all competitions this season.

He become the first Liverpool player in history to score 20 goals in all competitions for a seventh successive season if he nets against Man City.
