Ahead of their match at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Liverpool continue to be embroiled in a battle with Chelsea over Moises Caicedo.
On Thursday, the Reds agreed a record fee of £111million with Brighton for the transfer of the Ecuadorian.
He looked all set for his medical ahead of a move to Anfield before a u-turn on Friday meant Chelsea were given additional time to beat Liverpool’s offer.
The two teams will face off in what promises to be a feisty affair in the Premier League opener but soon after focus is likely to switch back to transfers.
There is no secret that Jurgen Klopp is in need of midfield reinforcements after the loss of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi clubs.
Should the Anfield hierarchy not get a deal for Caicedo over the line, the two teams could also do battle for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
Ibrahim Sangare Interest
According to the agent of PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare however, Liverpool are also interested in the 25-year-old.
His brother and agent, Kiki Musampa (via ESPN), also claims that Bayern and PSG are interested in the Ivorian, for whom, Nottingham Forest have already seen a bid turned down.
The outlet suggests that it will take a fee of around €37million to obtain the services of the midfielder.
