Liverpool have made contact over a surprise summer move for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, according to TEAMtalk.

The Premier League leaders are said to be keen on signing multiple forwards this offseason as they look to strengthen under new manager Arne Slot.

Delap is seen as a more affordable option compared to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak. With Ipswich facing the prospect of relegation, the 22-year-old could be available for a fee in the region of £40million, just 12 months after the club signed him from Manchester City for £20million.

Delap is also being monitored by a number of English clubs, with Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly interested ahead of the summer transfer window.

TEAMtalk claims that Liverpool view Delap as a player who “ticks all the boxes” and could potentially be brought in as a replacement for Darwin Núñez.

The Uruguayan forward’s future at Anfield is uncertain, with reports suggesting that he could be given opportunities to leave this summer.

There has been speculation about a potential move to the Saudi Pro League, where clubs expressed interest in January.

Delap has enjoyed a standout season at Portman Road, with 10 goals and two assists in 31 appearances across all competitions in 2024/25.

The 22-year-old has been instrumental in Ipswich’s return to the Premier League, contributing directly to nearly half of the club’s 28 goals, with 12 goal involvements.
