Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark is currently being considered for a potential loan move away from Anfield as the club explores opportunities for the young talent’s development, according to Liverpool Echo.
The newspaper claims that several English Football League clubs have expressed interest in securing the youngster for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.
If the move materialises, Clark would join the likes of Luke Chambers, James Balagizi, Vitezslav Jaros, and Marcelo Pitaluga in completing a temporary departure from Anfield this month.
Having already accumulated three appearances for the Reds, Clark was an unused substitute during Sunday’s 5-2 triumph over Norwich City in the Emirates FA Cup.
The potential return of key players, including Dominik Szoboszlai, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Thiago Alcantara, who recently resumed first-team training on Friday, may potentially limit Clark’s opportunities for regular appearances with the club.
Liverpool Echo states that “one club in the Championship – and others in League One – have shown an interest in signing the midfielder on loan until the end of the season as he bids to experience regular first-team football.
“However, such admiration is yet to be formalised with an official approach to the powers that be at Anfield.”
The son of former Newcastle midfielder Lee Clark, Bobby made the move to Liverpool from Newcastle United in 2021 and officially inked his first professional contract with the club in February 2022.
He committed to a new long-term contract with Liverpool last year.
The youngest was highlighted by Liverpool boss Klopp in the aftermath of Sunday’s commanding victory over David Wagner’s side, being one of several academy prospects recognised for their contributions to the team.
“There is a lot to come still,” the German said when asked about the current crop of talent at the AXA Training Centre.
“Bobby Clark didn’t come on [today] and I think he did particularly well in the last few games. Trey [Nyoni] and Dannsy [Jayden Danns] are special from the under-18s… [Lewis] Koumas! There’s a lot of really good players coming up still.”
Clark featured for the senior team during their pre-season tour of Asia in July 2022 and achieved a noteworthy debut under Jürgen Klopp.
His debut came as a substitute in the impressive 9-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth at Anfield in the Premier League last season.
