Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq are close to signing Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson this summer after the 33-year-old accepted a huge contract offer after talks with Jurgen Klopp, according to the Guardian.
However, the online news portal claims the deal depends on Al Ettifaq meeting Liverpool’s asking price for their skipper who has just two years left on his contract.
Al Ettifaq which is currently managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard were hoping to sign Henderson on a free transfer but the Reds want to offload him for £10m and both clubs are set to discuss the fee.
The England midfielder international had talks with Klopp on Thursday and the German gave the green light for the club to negotiate a reasonable fee for their long-serving midfielder.
If the deal goes through, Henderson will join other Premier League stars such as former teammate Roberto Firmino, N’Golo Kanté, and Kalidou Koulibaly in Saudi Arabia, bringing his 12-year stay at the club to an end.
Liverpool have already added Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister to their squad and are still in the market to sign at least one more midfielder.
Meanwhile, Al Ittihad are set to offer Liverpool a bid worth £40m for the services of Brazil midfielder Fabinho.
