Liverpool are locked in negotiations with Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq for the transfer of Jordan Henderson, however, the Reds have no intention of letting their skipper go cheaply, according to The Athletic.

Henderson has two years left on his current contract with Jurgen Klopp’s side and was part of the German’s plans for the new season but it’s increasingly looking like he will bring his 12-year stay at Anfield to a close.

The 33-year-old has accepted a huge contract offer from Al Ettifaq after successful talks with Klopp who couldn’t guarantee the England midfielder regular playing time following the signing of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Al Ettifaq which is managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard were hoping to sign Henderson on a free transfer but the Reds want to offload him for a reasonable fee.

If the deal goes through, Henderson will join other Premier League stars such as former teammate Roberto Firmino, N’Golo Kanté, and Kalidou Koulibaly in Saudi Arabia.

He has been a great leader and servant to the club after playing a key role in helping the Reds win several titles including the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, and Emirates FA Cup.

Another midfielder who could leave Anfield this summer is Brazil international Fabinho, who has been linked with a move to Al Ittihad. The Saudi Pro League club are set to offer Liverpool a bid worth £40m for the services of the 29-year-old.
