Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic is on the verge of returning to action after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury, as confirmed by Spain Under-21s manager Santi Denia.
Bajcetic has been out for several weeks since sustaining an adductor injury back in March. However, the 18-year-old resumed full training during the pre-season period.
In recent weeks, he has made appearances as an unused substitute in Liverpool’s last three Premier League matches, with the club taking a cautious approach to his recovery.
The versatile midfielder showcased his potential last season, featuring in 19 games and contributing one goal across various competitions.
“I wanted him to be here so he could meet the group. He has a work plan that we previously knew about and which we are going to continue,” Spain Under-21 boss Denia told AS, quoted by Sport Witness.
“He has signed up for Liverpool and although he hasn’t played, we’re looking forward to giving him minutes, even though playing there is very difficult.”
He added: “When he played in the lower ranks, he played central,” he said. “I think he can give us alternatives in that position.
“It can be like [Hugo] Guillamon in the previous generation, occupying various positions. I have spoken to him and he agrees with that role.”
