Liverpool have bolstered Arne Slot’s coaching team by appointing Aaron Briggs, a former analyst and coach at Manchester City, as their new elite development coach.
The 37-year-old steps into the role left vacant by Vitor Matos at the end of last season.
Aaron Briggs, who previously served as assistant coach at Wolfsburg under Niko Kovac until March, will play a crucial role in bridging the academy with the first-team setup at Liverpool.
His appointment follows interest from several Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window.
Before his stint in Germany, Briggs held positions at Monaco where he served as a tactical analysis coach, assistant coach, and head of football methodology from 2020 to 2022.
His career began at Manchester City, where he spent nine years progressing from Under-18 performance analyst to a senior first-team performance analyst.
Prior to City, he was on staff at Blackpool and Preston North End.
Briggs becomes the fourth addition to Slot’s coaching staff, joining Spike Hulshoff (assistant coach), Ruben Peeters (lead physical performance coach), and Fabian Otte (goalkeeping coach).
Liverpool continue to search for a first-team coach, with Johnny Heitinga, formerly of Everton and part of David Moyes’ staff at West Ham until May, reportedly among the candidates under consideration.
