Liverpool have announced their initial 28-man squad for their upcoming pre-season tour of the United States, which kicks off a series of preparations under new head coach Arne Slot.

The Reds departed for the United States on Tuesday, gearing up for three friendly matches as part of their warm-up schedule.

With the majority of their 14 players involved in the European Championships and Copa America unavailable, the squad initially includes returning players Dominik Szoboszlai, Andy Robertson, and Vitezslav Jaros.

However, young talents Jayden Danns and Bobby Clark are notably absent due to injury concerns.

Danns, who started pre-season with the first team, has been sidelined by a back issue, preventing his participation in the recent friendly against Preston North End.

Meanwhile, Clark continues his recovery on Merseyside following a back problem that has kept him out of action since April.

The squad features the 25 players who played against Preston, alongside Robertson and goalkeepers Caoimhin Kelleher and Marcelo Pitaluga.

Slot remains optimistic about potential reinforcements during the tour, with Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota expected to join after their quarter-final exits in international competitions.

Additionally, Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konate, who did not play at the Euros, are likely to link up with the squad.

Due to the time difference, Liverpool’s matches in the United States will take place in the early hours of the morning in the UK.

They face Real Betis in Pittsburgh on Saturday (12:30 am UK time), followed by a clash against Arsenal in Philadelphia the next Thursday (12:30 am UK time).

The tour concludes with a match against rivals Manchester United in South Carolina on Sunday, August 4 (12:45 am UK time).

Liverpool squad for US tour: Kelleher, Jaros, Davies, Pitaluga; Bradley, Quansah, Tsimikas, Robertson, Phillips, Van den Berg, Nallo, Chambers, Beck, Stephenson; Szoboszlai, Endo, Jones, Elliott, Morton, Bajcetic, McConnell, Nyoni; Salah, Carvalho, Doak, Gordon, Koumas, Blair.
