Liverpool have decided against pursuing Bayer Leverkusen’s sought-after attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Despite speculation linking Wirtz to several clubs, including Liverpool, the Reds have opted not to pursue the 21-year-old.

Florian Wirtz enjoyed a stellar season with Bayer Leverkusen, contributing significantly to their Bundesliga and German Cup double, as well as their Europa League final run.

His impressive form earned him a call-up to Germany’s squad for the upcoming European Championships and attracted interest from top clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.

However, Liverpool’s priorities lie elsewhere, as they do not view a central attacking midfielder as a pressing need in this transfer window, especially given Wirtz’s hefty price tag, which is rumoured to exceed £100 million.

Additionally, it is understood that Wirtz intends to stay with Leverkusen for at least another season.

According to reports from Spanish outlet Marca, there is speculation that Wirtz and his representatives have verbally agreed to a future move to Real Madrid.

Liverpool have also decided against pursuing a reunion between Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh and their new head coach Arne Slot.

Minteh had an impressive loan spell at Feyenoord, where he was sent by Newcastle United after being signed from Danish club Odense OB for £6.5 million last summer.

Under Slot’s guidance, the 19-year-old made 37 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists, although he received a red card during the Dutch Cup final victory over NEC Nijmegen.

Despite his accomplishments in the Netherlands, Newcastle are considering offers to sell Minteh due to their need to comply with Premier League profit and sustainability rules and finance their recruitment plans.

This has led to speculation linking Minteh with several clubs, including those from Italy and Germany, with Newcastle valuing the player at £40 million.

However, Liverpool, while seeking to bolster their wide options in the upcoming transfer window, have no current interest in pursuing Minteh, despite Slot’s admiration for the teenager, according to reports from the Liverpool Echo.
