Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic are both set to return to team training at Liverpool on Saturday.
The injured duo missed the pre-season tour to Singapore to stay behind on Merseyside to continue their rehabilitation.
Both players missed the end of last season with Thiago needing an operation on a hip injury and Bajcetic ruled out with an adductor problem.
This news will come as a huge boost to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp who has seen his midfield options decimated.
Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all departed at the end of their contracts. The blow of losing those three players however was softened by the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Klopp was rocked however by bids from Saudi clubs for Jordan Henderson and Fabinho who both have since departed.
That has left the Anfield hierarchy searching for options in the transfer market with Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia reportedly of interest.
Liverpool take to the field again on Monday when they face Darmstadt at Preston’s Deepdale. Assuming Thiago and Bajcetic have two days of training under their belts, it will be interesting to see if they are given a run-out.
