Liverpool are set to kick off their pre-season training schedule later this week under the guidance of new head coach Arne Slot, as key players return ahead of the 2024/25 season.
After a slightly longer off-season wait, the Reds will reconvene at the AXA Training Centre for the start of their pre-season preparations.
Details surrounding Slot’s plans for his first summer with the club had been kept under wraps, leaving uncertainty about when fitness tests and medical checks would commence.
However, it has now been confirmed that Liverpool will commence their pre-season activities on Friday.
The initial group will consist of a mix of established first-team members and fringe players.
Leading the squad will be Mohamed Salah, who returns after a well-deserved break following international duty with Egypt.
Joining him will be up to 16 senior players, including Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Jarell Quansah, Wataru Endo, Kostas Tsimikas, Caoimhin Kelleher, Conor Bradley, and Stefan Bajcetic.
Additionally, young talents like Ben Doak, James McConnell, Bobby Clark, Jayden Danns, and returning loanees such as Sepp van den Berg, Fabio Carvalho, and Nat Phillips are expected to participate.
Liverpool’s academy sides, including the U21s and U18s, have already commenced their pre-season preparations earlier this week at the AXA Training Centre.
Throughout the summer, some players from the academy ranks will be called up to train with the first team, gradually bolstering Slot’s squad.
Following their early exits from the Euros group stage, players like Dominik Szoboszlai, Andy Robertson, and goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros will be the next to join the team after their post-season holidays.
It remains to be seen how involved Arne Slot will be in these initial training sessions, but the 45-year-old will undoubtedly seek to make an early impression.
Slot’s first official engagement will be a press conference scheduled for Friday morning at 11 am, marking his debut as Liverpool’s head coach before the media.
