Liverpool have successfully appealed the red card issued to Alexis Mac Allister in the 3-1 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.
The Argentine was harshly sent off in the 58th minute after he felled Ryan Christie as Bournemouth broke out of their box and looked on in dismay as referee Thomas Bramall brandished the red card.
Paul Tierney on VAR also reviewed the footage and decided that there was no need for a rethink.
The 24-year-old was due to miss Liverpool’s visit to Newcastle on Sunday, as well as the matches against Aston Villa at Anfield and the away game at Wolves as a result of the sending-off.
Alexis Mac Allister Red Card Overturned
There was good news on Tuesday evening however when it was revealed that the punishment had been reversed and Mac Allister will be available for the crucial trip to St James’ Park.
This will come as a huge boost to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp who also saw Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz train on Tuesday after picking up knocks against the Cherries.
