Liverpool face Aston Villa in the Premier League at Anfield on Sunday and we can bring you our prediction for the match.
Jurgen Klopp has seen his team take seven points from nine since the start of the new campaign whilst Unai Emery’s Villa are just a point behind after two wins and a defeat in their opening three matches.
Liverpool Team News
Virgil van Dijk is suspended after his red card in the 2-1 victory over Newcastle last Sunday and is likely to be replaced by Joe Gomez.
Thiago Alcantara and Ibrahima Konate are both still missing through injury but Curtis Jones will return to the squad now that he is back in team training.
New signing Ryan Gravenberch is unavailable as he was not registered before the Premier League’s deadline but Darwin Nunez is expected to start after his heroics at St James’ Park a week ago.
Aston Villa Team News
Emi Martinez returned to training on Friday after missing Villa’s last two matches with a calf issue. He will be assessed ahead of the game at Anfield as to whether he is ready to return.
Alex Moreno, Jacob Ramsey, Bertrand Traore, and Tim Iroegbunam are all still missing for the Villans.
Match Prediction
It is likely to be another tough afternoon at Anfield for the Reds, against a tough and resolute opponent. Villa are well organised by Emery and will have plenty of threat going forward with Moussa Diaby in form and Ollie Watkins likely to provide a mobile, physical challenge for Joel Matip and Gomez.
Liverpool have been guilty of being loose in possession in the early stages of matches and that was the cause of them falling behind against both Bournemouth and Newcastle.
Klopp’s team has so much fire power however with all his strikers in form that if they can stay solid in defence and avoid individual errors early on, they should have enough to come out on top.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Aston Villa
