Alexis Mac Allister and Liverpool have won their appeal for the red card against Bournemouth.
The Argentinian midfielder was given a straight red for a challenge he made against Bournemouth’s Ryan Christie in Liverpool’s 3-1 win on Saturday.
On field referee Thomas Bramall dismissed Mac Allister in the 58th minute as he deemed his tackle against Christie as dangerous and high.
Red Card Drama
A split decision made by the official on the pitch can be excused. Unfortunately, VAR was covered by Jurgen Klopp’s favourite official, Paul Tierney.
Tierney has been at the centre of many controversial incidents with Liverpool in the past, to the point where the Reds manager publicly spoke about.
Liverpool made an appeal to the FA to have Alexis Mac Allister’s three-match ban rescinded. The FA have made their decision.
The FA have decided to accept the appeal and Alexis Mac Allister will no longer be banned, making him available for Sunday’s match against Newcastle.
This will be welcome news for Jurgen Klopp, who is short on midfielders as it is, with injuries and the exits of several others.
What position Mac Allister will play in is yet to be seen as the World Cup winner as been covering the defensive midfield role.
With the addition of Wataru Endo allow the no.10 to be back in his best position?
