News broke yesterday morning that Liverpool and Alexis Mac Allister had reached a contract agreement for him to switch The Amex Stadium for Anfield, which would see him stay in Merseyside until 2028.

Mac Allister’s switch to Liverpool is now imminent, with the player today receiving permission from Brighton to carry out his medical for the Reds.

Former Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has given the Argentine the ultimate praise ahead of his proposed move to Anfield.

Lallana played 178 times for the Reds, winning both the UEFA Champions League and Premier League during his six-year spell. He has now compared World Cup winner Mac Allister to one of the world’s best midfielders, Luka Modric.

Via The Big Interview with Graham Hunter, Lallana said: “He’s not the quickest, he’s not the strongest, but it doesn’t matter, because up here (in his head), he’s like Modric who knows the football is faster than anyone.

Messi was looking for him to link play at the World Cup. I mean, when Messi’s looking for you…”

Alexis Mac Allister played six games at the 2022 Qatar World Cup and registered an assist, as well as being pivotal throughout the competition in helping Argentina win the tournament.
