Liverpool and Chelsea are locked in a transfer battle over Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia according to a report.

Jurgen Klopp and new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino are likely to overhaul their squads this summer as they aim to get their teams back in the hunt for trophies.

James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Arthur Melo have all departed Anfield and it’s looking increasingly likely that Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic, and Conor Gallagher could leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to multiple reports, Liverpool have agreed on a deal to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister with the move set to be completed in the coming days.

Sacha Tavolieri is now also claiming that the Anfield hierarchy are set to do battle with Chelsea over the signing of Belgian international Lavia who impressed for Southampton in midfield this season despite the team’s struggles.

The journalist suggests however that Chelsea are leading the race to sign the talented youngster as the two Premier League sides fight for his signature.

The Transfer Room Verdict

Lavia is a player with a lot of potential and now has one season of Premier League experience under his belt which makes him an attractive proposition and likely target for both clubs..
