Manchester United have announced the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea on a five-year deal in the last few minutes. It comes after Mount released a video on Instagram saying goodbye to the fans of his former club Chelsea.
United will pay Chelsea £55million for Mount, and there is a further £5million add-ons which the club will be happy to pay should they be achieved. Mount is the first Chelsea player to sign for United since Nemanja Matic in 2017.

In the statement announcing Mason Mount as their first summer signing, Manchester United had the following to say,
‘Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career. Having competed against them, I know just how strong a squad it is that I’m joining and I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win major trophies.’

Mount has signed on a five-year deal with a one-year option for the club to extend. He will be earning a rumoured £250,000-a week. The former Chelsea midfielder was a priority target for Erik ten Hag.
During his time at Chelsea Mason Mount won the Champions League, The Club World Cup and The Super Cup. He also won Chelsea player of the year twice.
United are signing a Premier League and Champions League proven player. Erik ten Hag has wanted Mount since 2018, and even tried to sign him for Ajax on loan from Chelsea.
Next on the agenda for Manchester United is the signing of Andre Onana and a possible pursuit of a new number nine. Rasmus Hojlund and Randal Kolo Muani are both targets for the club at the moment.
Mason Mount is officially a Manchester United player.
