Manchester United are increasingly likely to focus on the loan market within this transfer window. Timo Werner is a name that just won’t go away.
United have spoken to Leipzig regarding a loan for the striker, and the feeling is that the German club would be willing to sanction it. United will lose Jadon Sancho on loan to Borussia Dortmund in the coming days. The two clubs are currently negotiating the deal.
United Consider Werner Move:
As reported by John Cross of the Mirror, Manchester United are now seriously considering a move for Timo Werner within the January Transfer Window. He has emerged as a top candidate to be signed, alongside Bayern Munich striker Eric Maxim Chupo-Moting.
United has been aiming to become a pressing side under Erik ten Hag, and Werner could add a new dimension to that process if the signing does go through.
In regards to his form at present in Germany, Werner hasn’t started many games in the league this season. The German started 2 out of the 12 games he’s been in the squad for and has also missed 6 games in all competitions through 2 separate injuries.
United are yet to make a final decision on who they’re signing, but the feeling is Werner may be who they settle on. Serhou Guirassy is someone they are also keeping an eye on, but nothing is concrete on that front at this stage.
Erik ten Hag will feel hard done by that he has to sit through another January window with just the loan market for the company.
