Manchester United are looking to revamp their central defensive options, and could sign both Goncalo Inacio and Antonio Silva. The club recognise the need for new defenders, and have both players on a shortlist.
Antonio Silva would be a Raphael Varane replacement, and Goncalo Inacio would be signed to fight alongside Lisandro Martinez. Both players are extremely similar in profile. United acknowledge Raphael Varane can not play every week anymore.
The club are hoping Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot can put a word in on international duty with Portugal.
United Target Inacio & Silva:
As reported by RECORD in Portugal, Manchester United are targeting both Goncalo Inacio and Antonio Silva. The club are ready to completely change the centre-back department.
Victor Lindelof is unlikely to be offered a new deal, and Harry Maguire leaving has also not been ruled out. A new revolution is expected in defence at United, and Inacio and Silva could be the start of that.
Raphael Varane is 30-years old, and his history with injuries is cause for concern at United. Inacio would cost United around €60million, with Antonio Silva expected to be a bit more at around €80million.
The club hope to have the takeover situation sorted by the January transfer window. Inacio could be targeted then, with Silva’s pursuit more likely to be the summer.
A new era expected at Manchester United defensively, with these two defenders the catalyst for change.
