Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is increasingly expected to leave Anfield this summer, with two Premier League clubs reportedly eyeing moves for the Uruguayan international, according to TEAMtalk.

The 25-year-old was a key figure under previous manager Jurgen Klopp but has struggled to secure a consistent spot in Arne Slot’s starting XI.

Nunez has not been able to make a significant impact when given the chance, netting just seven goals across all competitions this season. As things stand, a departure from Liverpool seems increasingly likely.

Atletico Madrid had expressed interest in Nunez, with Diego Simeone said to be a long-time admirer of the forward.

TEAMtalk claims that Atletico are now assessing the financial viability of a potential deal, aiming to negotiate a reasonable transfer fee. The strong relationship between Atletico and Liverpool could prove beneficial in facilitating talks.

In addition to Atletico, Newcastle United are also closely monitoring Nunez’s situation.

With both Liverpool and Arsenal having shown interest in Magpies striker Alexander Isak, Newcastle are considering several striker options for the summer, even as they aim to keep Isak.

The club could demand up to £150m for his sale. Newcastle have shortlisted Viktor Gyokeres, Liam Delap, and Victor Boniface, but Nunez is also on their radar.

However, the Magpies face potential competition for his signature from another Premier League rival.

Nottingham Forest are also keeping an eye on Nunez and could make a move for the forward in the summer per the report.

A new striker is a priority for Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo, with both Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen having been linked with moves to the City Ground.

If Forest secure Champions League qualification, which they are currently on track to do, they plan to strengthen in multiple areas.. Nunez is one of the profiles they admire, alongside Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, who has been on their radar for some time.

Given that Slot has not been convinced by Nunez since his early days at Liverpool and with multiple clubs showing interest, a summer departure for the striker seems almost certain.

Liverpool will need to find a replacement for Nunez, and work is already underway to identify a new centre-forward.

At this stage, the race for Nunez’s signature is wide open. Alongside negotiations over personal terms, a significant transfer fee will be required to secure his services, as Liverpool are willing to sell but are unlikely to do so at a reduced price.
