The 30-year-old becomes became the Reds’ third acquisition of the summer transfer window after finalising personal terms and successfully completing his medical.

Endo, who will wear jersey No.3 for the club featured in 33 Bundesliga games last season and made nine goal contributions as Stuttgart narrowly avoided relegation by winning a play-off against Hamburg.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: “I’m very happy right now and I’m so excited to join a big club in Liverpool.

“It feels amazing and this is my dream. It’s always [been] a dream to play [in the] Premier League and with one of the biggest clubs in the world. It’s a dream come true for me.”

“It’s going to be the first time for me that I play at Anfield. I can’t wait to play at Anfield in front of Liverpool fans.

“I play as a No.6 and I’m like a bit more [of a] defensive player. I think I can help this club defensively and I will have good organisation in the middle. I think that’s my job.

“I am very excited to join this club and I am looking forward to seeing you at Anfield!”

Endo joined Stuttgart initially on a season-long loan in 2019 before completing a permanent deal. The Japanese played in Stuttgart’s German Cup win against TSG Balingen last Saturday and was on the scoresheet in their 4-0 win.

Liverpool are desperate to sign a defensive midfielder following the exits of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and James Milner this summer, while fellow midfielders Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have also left the club.
