Liverpool are on the verge of winning their record-equalling 20th English First Divison title in Arne Slot‘s first year in charge of the Merseyside squad. But, change is coming, and this Summer is expected to be one of the biggest shifts at the club in recent memory. Certainly since Slot’s predecessor, Jurgen Klopp joined the Reds in 2015.
Chief among those new changes this Summer is a revamp to Liverpool’s forward line. With Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota underperforming in their last stretch of games, it seems the clock has struck midnight for them and they will be departing the club in the Summer transfer window. Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have both garnered interest from Spain and Saudi Arabia, while Diogo Jota has received interest from his former club, Wolverhampton Wanderers about a possible return for the Portuguese international.
Multiple forwards have been linked to a move to Merseyside and in an interview with Africa Foot, Olympique Lyon Winger Malick Fofana‘s agent, Boba Fofana gave the Kopites something to get excited about.
”The choice of the heart would be Liverpool. He has the potential to enter the rotation, and above all, we would like to see him succeed African legends such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané or Elhadj Diouf. Now, the choice of reason would be Newcastle, a well-structured club that could be a first step to become seasoned before, why not, joining a club in the top 5 in Europe”
The 19-year-old Belgian national currently has fifteen goal contributions in Ligue 1, averaging a goal or assist every 127 minutes across all competitions.

Lyon find themselves in financial trouble, with the French side staring down the possible situation that finds them relegated automatically due to holding debts in excess of €500million. This coupled with the players wants and desire to facilitate a move to Liverpool and play for Arne Slot’s side, could allow the Reds to snatch him at a bargain price.
When asked about potential profiles and player comparisons when speaking with Africa Foot, Boba was full of praise for the young Belgian.
”He has the profile to succeed in the Premier League. He has similar qualities to Manchester United’s Amad Diallo, namely speed, percussion and the ability to create situations. There is no doubt that he can make sparks. For him, it would be an opportunity to continue his progress and, above all, to show his talent in a league that favours the game in transition. But the club will have to be chosen carefully, because the competition is tough across the Channel.”
