Speculation continues regarding the future of Thiago Alcantara and potential outgoings at Liverpool this summer as Jurgen Klopp rebuilds his squad.

Reds chiefs have responded to a disappointing campaign with the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominic Szobolszlai. There could also be further incomings with Romeo Lavia heavily linked with a move to Anfield over recent days.

Some reports have suggested that for another midfielder to come in this summer, at least one of the current crop will need to depart.

Speaking in his column with EOTK Insider, Neil Jones (via Empire Of The Kop) has suggested that Thiago Alcantara could be the most likely player to exit during this transfer window.

“I think there’s potential for Thiago to leave. There’s a situation bubbling there that could come to a head if a good offer was to be received. The question is whether that offer will be received.

The journalist does not believe that Brazilian Fabinho will depart, however, describing him as ‘untouchable’. He also spoke about skipper Jordan Henderson’s recent links to Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq.

“Fabinho is untouchable and Jordan Henderson logically feels untouchable but there are a lot of stories around him and Saudi Arabia bubbling away. Until you get a definitive answer there from the player or club, it’s hard to rule that sort of thing out. He’s in decent shape and is expected back at Kirkby on Tuesday with the rest of the international contingent of Liverpool.

“I think if you’re looking at those three, the amber would be Henderson, the green would be Thiago and the red would be Fabinho.”

The Transfer Room Verdict – Could Thiago Alcantara Leave This Summer?

The way Jones describes the situation sums things up very well with Thiago seemingly the most likely and Fabinho least likely to exit.

It would be a shame however to lose the Spanish international when he could excel alongside the high-class reinforcements made to Liverpool’s midfield already this summer.
