Another transfer window with Bernardo Silva’s future being discussed as Paris Saint Germain looks like the next side to test Manchester City’s resolve.

This isn’t unusual territory for the Premier League champions, as they and Pep Guardiola made their stance quite clear. They didn’t want to lose Silva.

The Portuguese international’s future at the Etihad has always been discussed, with Barcelona having advanced talks with Silva’s representatives during the two previous transfer windows.

Guardiola didn’t allow himself to be drawn into confirming if the 28-year-old was making his last appearance in the FA Cup for City during press conferences leading up to the final.

Where Barcelona could not finalise a deal due to the financial restrictions at the La Liga champions last year, PSG would be able to match City’s asking price.

PSG could be looking at a total squad overhaul, with Lionel Messi already confirming he won’t renew his contract and doubts about Neymar Jr staying at the French champions.

The Parisians have been heavily linked with Manuel Ugarte, someone on Chelsea’s wishlist and Marco Asensio from Real Madrid as they look to be a force in European football, and they see Silva as a vital part of that task.

With Jorge Mendes as the agent for Silva, having already had a contract offer from PSG, Santi Aouna also states a formal bid from Paris is only a few weeks away.

Silva has been an integral part of the double-winning side, scoring twice in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid, confirming the Cityzens’ place in the Istanbul final against Inter Milan.
