Al-Ittihad have reached an agreement with Liverpool for the transfer of midfielder Fabinho according to a report.
Speculation linking the Brazilian with a move to the Saudi club emerged last week.
Rumours of a £40million offer being made followed and the 29-year-old was left behind when the Liverpool squad departed for the pre-season tour of Germany.
It looks like the deal may be now reaching its conclusion with the Twitter account of Alkass confirming that an agreement has been found between the two clubs.
That followed an earlier report suggesting that he would be undertaking his medical today.
Fabinho’s exit may not be the end of the midfield outgoings at Anfield with skipper Jordan Henderson also reported to be close to a move to Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq.
Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai had been added to Klopp’s squad earlier in the transfer window but it now looks set to be a busy few weeks for the Anfield hierarchy as they go in search of a replacement.
The Transfer Room’s Verdict On The Likely Exit Of Fabinho
As soon as a fee of £40million was mentioned it was always likely to be accepted.
Fabinho’s form fell away badly last season but there is no underestimating the role he played in Liverpool’s success over the past five years.
Focus will now switch to who might replace the Brazilian at Anfield with Romeo Lavia of Southampton rumoured to be a target.
