Liverpool are bracing themselves for a £118million offer from Al-Ittihad for Mohamed Salah despite the club not wanting to sell their talisman.
On Sunday, the Egyptian played a pivotal role in the Reds’ dramatic 2-1 victory over Newcastle United, providing the assist for Darwin Nunez’s injury-time winner.
After the game, Jurgen Klopp was asked again about the future of the 31-year-old, and he reiterated his stance that the matter was closed as far as he was concerned.
According to Mail Sport, however, Saudi bosses are in Europe after they ‘received encouragement that the player would be keen to listen to offers’. That’s despite Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa stating recently that his client would be staying put this summer.
Even after those comments, the Saudis appear undeterred and the outlet claims that Al-Ittihad could test the Anfield hierarchy’s resolve with a massive £118million offer.
The Transfer Room Verdict On The Future Of Mohamed Salah
A transfer fee of such magnitude for a 31-year-old is always going to be seriously considered. For such a key player like Salah, however, surely it will not be considered with just 48 hours before the transfer window closes.
Liverpool and Klopp have remained resolute that he is not for sale and it looks like that stance will not change. The Saudi window stays open until the 20th of September however so it promises to be a nervous few weeks for Reds fans.
