There has been speculation surrounding Andre Onana returning to Cameroon this year to play for them in the African Cup Of Nations. Them rumours have now been rubbished. It is highly unlikely he will be reintegrated into the Cameroon national team, and therefore impossible for him to go to the AFCON.

United are closing in on the signing of Altay Bayindir from Fenerbache, and he will be the number two to Onana. Bayindir would have been number one for the games Onana would have been at the AFCON, but that is incredibly unlikely.

Onana retired from international football last year.

As reported by the Athletic, Andre Onana’s return to Cameroon is currently regarded as impossible. There is no plans to bring him back.

Onana retired due to a falling out with manager Rigobert Song over tactics. He has not played a minute for Cameroon since retiring.

United may have been left in disarray if Onana had of went to the AFCON. Goalkeeper is a position of huge importance, and to lose that presence for a number of games would be huge.
