It came as a bit of a shock to the football world over the weekend that Arsenal had interest in David Raya, and they have wasted no time in accelerating that interest.
An agreement in principle is now in place on personal terms and the two clubs are likely to speed up talks over a transfer now. Brentford are open to selling Raya but they want a fair fee before they let him go.
Raya is expected to provide competition for Aaron Ramsdale at Arsenal.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal reached an agreement in princip;e with David Raya on personal terms. Both parties have now come to an understanding.
Talks will now speed up between Arsenal and Brentford, with the expectation being that the clubs will come to an agreement over a fee.
Bayern Munich had interest in Raya but wanted to do an initial loan instead of a permanent deal. Arsenal want to sign Raya permanently, but may have to pay around £40million.
Aaron Ramsdale recently signed a new deal at the club but the signing of Raya may throw some questions into his place as number one. Both keepers will be fighting to start for the club next season.
A deal is not yet done, but with personal terms now agreed it should move quickly.
