Aston Villa could make a move for a Liverpool transfer target if they fail to secure the signing of Moussa Diaby this summer.
Unai Emery’s team have already failed with a bid of €35million plus add-ons for the Bayer Leverkusen winger.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Villans will return with an increased offer for the 24-year-old who remains their priority.
With no guarantees the revised offer for the French international will be accepted, Romano claims that other names are on their shortlist.
As per the transfer specialist, that list includes Rennes winger and Liverpool target Jeremy Doku.
The 21-year-old has been on the radar of the Anfield hierarchy for several years and links emerged again recently with claims Liverpool could bid for the Belgian international this summer.
The Transfer Room Verdict On Jeremy Doku
It is difficult to see Liverpool moving for Doku during this transfer window despite their interest in the player.
The rebuild of Jurgen Klopp’s midfield and to a lesser extent, defence, is likely to consume nearly all of this summer’s budget.
Klopp already has five high quality forward options in his squad and youngster Ben Doak is reported to have an impressed since training resumed after making his first team debut last season
As to whether Doku departs the Ligue 1 club for anyone else remains to be seen but he is likely to have many potential suitors and it appears that Villa are one of them.
