Manchester United recently offered Atalanta a player plus cash offer in negotiations for Rasmus Hojlund, but the approach was turned down. The Italian club only want cash, but United deem their asking price unreasonable.
Hojlund is more than open to a move to United, and personal terms have already been agreed with the Danish striker. All United need to do now is find an agreement with Atalanta, but it’s proving very difficult.
Negotiations will continue between the two clubs.
Atalanta Reject Approach For Hojlund:
As reported by Laurie Whitwell of the Athletic, Manchester United offered a player plus cash deal to Atalanta for Rasmus Hojlund. The approach was turned down by the Italian club.
United need a number nine and Hojlund is the club’s main target this summer. Harry Kane initially was, but United gave up due to Spurs asking price. Atalanta’s asking price however is not much better.
The Seria A side deem Hojlund to be valued at around £85million. United to not agree with this valuation and are trying to work around it. The pursuit of Hojlund is simultaneous to Andre Onana, which United are close to completing.
United are trying to build a better reputation in the transfer window this summer and will not overpay. Paying £85million for Hojlund would make the club seem weak, and they will walk away if Atalanta do not lower their price.
In terms of another option for United, Porto striker Mehdi Taremi is an option. The agent of Taremi posted cryptic pictures of Old Trafford yesterday, despite not being in the building on the day. The Red’s may turn to Taremi if Hojlund is too expensive in the end.
