Real Madrid midfielder Aurelian Tchouameni does not want to leave the club according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
Liverpool have been long term admirers of the French international but there is no chance of a move this summer as Real Madrid view him as a key player.
The Reds made him their number one target last summer but missed out on him and would have hoped they can go back in for him but even if they offered the same amount as they did for Moises Caicedo a bid would likely be rejected.
Tchouameni did find himself on the bench at times last season but he started the new campaign from the off in a defensive midfield role in Real Madrid’s opening day win against Athletic Bilbao.
Liverpool have now missed out on three of their defensive midfield targets including Tchouameni from last season as Caicedo and Romeo Lavia have both decided to join Chelsea.
Fabinho and Jordan Henderson were Liverpool’s options for that position but they were both sold to clubs in the Saudi Arabian league seemingly without any replacements lined up.
Jurgen Klopp and Jorg Schmadkte will need to have a big rethink about who they think should join to help the midfield as in the first game of the season Alexis Mac Allister had to play there which also forced Cody Gakpo to play in midfield where he struggled to get into the game.
With not long left in the window Liverpool need to move quickly otherwise their seasons ambitions will look a lot bleaker than what they should be.
