Wrexham goalkeeper and now arguably Wrexham legend Ben Foster has announced his retirement from the game with immediate effect. This comes after Wrexham drew 5-5 with Swindon at the weekend.
Foster came ouf of retirement towards the end of last season and helped Wrexham earn promotion to League two. Foster saved an important penalty against Notts County to effectively hand the Welsh side promotion.
He has however now decided it’s time to hang up the gloves.
The news was announced by Wrexham today on Twitter. Foster played 12 games for the club since coming out of retirement, and they were some of the most memorable in the clubs history.
Foster retires having one two league cups with Manchester United, the National League with Wrexham and a football league trophy. He also won the Play-Off’s with Watford in 2006.
Over the course of his career Foster played 536 games, keeping 143 clean sheets in that time. He made over 390 appearances in the Premier League, with 94 clean sheets coming in that competition.
