Chelsea do not under any circumstances want to sell defender Levi Colwill this summer, but Brighton are doing all they can to test their resolve around the player.

Brighton sent a £30million offer to Chelsea last week which was rejected by the club, but they are now preparing a bid £10million higher at £40million to see if they can convince Chelsea to sell.

Needless to say, it’s likely to be rejected outright by Chelsea.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Brighton are now preparing a club record bid of £40million for Chelsea defender Levi Colwill.

Chelsea are clear on their stance regarding Colwill and they are not willing to sell the player under any circumstance at the moment, regardless of what price Brighton are willing to offer.

£40million however may be seen as disrespectful by Chelsea, who are likely to value Colwill closer to £70million. Chelsea’s reluctance to deal may harm their chances of signing Moises Caicedo.

Brighton have yet to send the bid but it is being prepared as things stand. Chelsea are outright reject the bid, as Colwill is viewed as part of the long-term project at the club.

It’s felt Chelsea could land Moises Caicedo if they decided to sell Colwill to Brighton, but they are unwilling to make that sacrifice. Colwill is extremely highly rated internally at Chelsea.

More news is expected in the coming days as the bid is sent and Chelsea react, but it’s unlikely to be the final bid Brighton send for Levi Colwill regardless.
