Liverpool admire Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure and Aston Villa’s Boubacar Kamara according to The Athletic.
The Reds are continuing their search for a defensive midfielder after they missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea.
Jurgen Klopp sold his two defensive midfield options in Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to the Saudi Pro League yet the club did not have a replacement lined up.
So now Liverpool are going into their second league game against Bournemouth with a natural number ‘6’.
They were linked with Doucoure earlier on in the window so there is definitely an interest in the midfielder who won the Crystal Palace player of the season award in his first year at the club.
Kamara, who was signed at Villa by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, had some injury problems in his first season but showed his quality under Unai Emery.
One of the problems with either player will be the price as it is so late in the transfer window both clubs are expected to add money on their valuations.
Doucoure and Kamara are both 23-years-old so will have plenty of time to improve and fulfil their potential whilst going straight into Liverpool’s starting line-up.
Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic will likely be used in the deeper midfield role as well when they are match fit but they will still have a bit to go as they did not play a minute in pre-season.
