The transfer window hasn’t even began yet and Chelsea have already pulled out of an almost done transfer in Manuel Ugarte and moved on to a completely different target in the shape of Gabri Veiga. Just wait till it actually begins!

Veiga scored twice against Barcelona the other night and he has slowly became one of the most sought after youngsters in La Liga to date.

Chelsea are interested in Veiga, but they face competition from Liverpool.

As reported by Jacob Steinberg of the Guardian, Chelsea are interested in the signature of Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo.

Mauricio Pochettino has began putting names forward that he would like the club to sign and Veiga is one of the names he has suggested. The Argentine is a fan of the player.

Veiga has a release clause of £34.4million, and Chelsea are ready to push hard to try and get the signing done.

The Celta midfielder is a different profile to the targets Chelsea have already targeted in this window, and he would be a replacement for either Mason Mount or Kai Havertz with both linked with moves away.

A stumbling block Chelsea could face is Liverpool’s interest in Mount, as Jurgen Klopp’s men also have a concrete interest in his signature as they look to continue their midfield rebuild.

No bids or negotiations have begun as of yet but the expectation is that they will begin in the coming days.
