New Chelsea superstar signing Christopher Nkunku will miss the opening day game against Liverpool with his injury reportedly far from being good news.
The French attacker joined from RB Leipzig this summer and he has impressed during pre-season.
However he was taken off in the 22nd minute in Chelsea’s friendly against Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea’s worst nightmare has come true.
It appears to not just be a simple knock as there has been unconfirmed rumours that Nkunku will be out for a couple of months.
The club are set to confirm the details about his injury very soon with their opening Premier League game against Liverpool closely approaching.
One thing is for sure though and that is that Nkunku will not be fit for the visit of Jurgen Klopp’s side.
It will be a big loss for new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino who has been finding his best starting line-up during pre-season.
Nkunku’s absence will mean there is one less attacker for Liverpool to worry about but Carney Chukwuemeka could potentially start in his place.
On paper Liverpool will have struggled to cope with Nkunku due to the fact they will not have a natural defensive midfielder after they sold Fabinho.
Romeo Lavia is their key target but even if he is signed in time for the first game it is a huge doubt that he will start.
