Earlier today David Ornstein of The Athletic revealed that there was a chance that Fabinho’s transfer to Al-Ittihad falls through due ‘complications’.
There was rumours that it was because the breed of his two pet dogs were illegal in Saudi Arabia however that is not true.
The Brazilian international was not picked for Liverpool’s pre-season training camp in Germany due to the fact the transfer seemed so close to happening.
However he is now set to get ready for the new season at Liverpool’s training ground and the reason why the deal has stalled has been revealed.
According to a report Al-Ittihad, Al-Nasr and Al-Shabab are all prohibited from registering players.
This is as a result of separate penalties issued against them by FIFA and the CAS Court.
Out of the four Saudi clubs that are backed by the Public Investment Fund Al-Hilal are the only ones who don’t have any penalties.
This is not great for the growth of the Saudi Pro League as they have already faced a big stumbling block.
For Liverpool it puts them in a awkward position as they may have to keep hold of a player who was happy to leave.
Bayern Munich were supposedly interested in the 29-year-old so if a deal to Al-Ittihad falls through the German Champions may swoop in.
